VOCALOID is a vocal synthesis software. Many of you may know it from the hit Hatsune Miku and Gackpoid [*1]. Just by entering lyrics and a melody for the vocal part, you can synthesize the vocals. Since the software uses a “vocal library,” a database of actual singing voices, the synthesized sound has the quality of the original voices, giving the sound an authentic feel. You can also add tones to the voice, such as vibrato and pitch bending using this software. If provided with a wide range of vocal libraries, VOCALOID can produce music featuring a wide range of vocal qualities.
■NetVOCALOID
NetVOCALOID is a vocal synthesis service provided via the Internet. You can synthesize singing voices on a device connected to the Internet by executing the VOCALOID engine on the server. You can use VOCALOID even if you don’t have VOCALOID software.
Main functions:
1. Synthesizes VOCALOID vocal audio data using sequence data for the melody part described by the dedicated XML file. [*2]
2. Adds effects (Reverb/Compressor) to synthesized vocal audio data.
3. Encodes synthesized vocal audio data into a compressed audio file (MP3/FLAC[*3]）.
4. Provides these functions via the HTTP-based WebAPI.
